“I’m Sitting on Top of the World” is a popular song.

The music was written by Ray Henderson, the lyrics by Sam M. Lewis and Joe Young. The song was published in 1925.

The song was first recorded by either Art Gillham or Al Jolson. Art Gillham (‘the Whispering Pianist’) recorded ‘I’m Sitting on Top of the World’ on 24 October 1925.

Jolson’s recording was played during the opening montage of 1930’s New York City in the 2005 remake of King Kong, and in the closing sequence of the 1995, U.S. – U.K. film, Richard III.
